چکیده

Abstract We show that in theories of axionlike particles (ALPs) coupled to electrons at tree-level, the one-loop effective coupling photons is process dependent: relevant for decay processes, g aγ (D) , differs significantly from appearing phenomenologically important Primakoff process, (P) . this has implications physics massive ALPs hot and dense environments, such as supernovae. derive, a consequence, new limits on ALP-electron coupling, ĝ ae SN 1987A by accounting all production including considering bounds excess cooling well absence an associated gamma-ray burst ALP decays. Our are among strongest date masses range 0.03 MeV < m 240 MeV. Moreover, we also how cosmological ALP-photon translate into new, strong one loop. analysis emphasises large hierarchies between couplings difficult realise once quantum loops taken account.

Topological order from quantum loops and nets

I define models of quantum loops and nets that have ground states with topological order. These make possible excited states comprised of deconfined anyons with non-abelian braiding. With the appropriate inner product, these quantum loop models are equivalent to net models whose topological weight involves the chromatic polynomial. A simple Hamiltonian preserving the topological order is found ...

Some Improved Bounds on Small Strong -Nets

In this paper we present some new constructions of small strong -nets for rectangles, strips and wedges based on simple geometric arguments. For rectangular range spaces we improve upon the earlier known bound on for net set size of 2. For strips and wedges for which only lower bounds were known, we bound from above for net set sizes of 2, 3 and 4. Further, we show that the net constructed for ...

Wilson loops in SYM theory: from weak to strong coupling

We review Wilson loops in N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with emphasis on the exact results. The implications are discussed in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. This is a review compiled from presentations given by the authors at: Sapporo Winter School, Sapporo, Japan, January, 2002; APCTP/KIAS Winter School, Seoul/Pohang, Korea, December 2001; 14th Nordic Network Meeting, Stoc...

On gonihedric loops and quantum gravity

We present an analysis of the gonihedric loop model, a reformulation of the two dimensional gonihedric spin model, using two different techniques. First, the usual regular lattice statistical physics problem is mapped onto a height model and studied analytically. Second, the gravitational version of this loop model is studied via matrix models techniques. Both methods lead to the conclusion tha...
